Carly Abbott

for Supervisor

About Me

I am a proud Pennsylvania native, born and raised on a horse farm in Cochranville, PA. My childhood was immersed in the rhythms of country life—mucking stalls, caring for livestock, and working outdoors in all kinds of weather, no matter the season. These experiences shaped me, instilling a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for resilience and dedication.

My family’s commitment to public service had a profound influence on my values. My father, Rick Abbott, served as Highland Township Supervisor for over 30 years, while my mother, Ann Abbott, was a dedicated member of the Planning Commission. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how active involvement can shape and guide a community for the better.

After graduating from Roanoke College, I built a successful career in photography, design, and marketing in Philadelphia, where I lived and worked for over 14 years. In 2018, my husband, Justin, and I chose to make East Hempfield our home, drawn to its welcoming neighborhoods.

Now, as we raise our two children in East Hempfield, I am committed to bringing my unique blend of rural roots, professional expertise, and a passion for community-building to the role of Township Supervisor.

I believe that thoughtful leadership and a focus on local concerns can ensure East Hempfield continues to thrive as a place where families, businesses, and individuals flourish.

Why?

Running for Township Supervisor wasn’t something I initially planned, but I felt compelled to step up after witnessing decisions that I believe do not reflect the values or best interests of our community. At a highly publicized meeting where the current board voted to pull funding from the Mountville Public Library, I was struck by the thought: We have to do better than this.

Since then, the board has taken further actions, including drafting and enacting a resolution on immigration enforcement that was both hurtful to our legally immigrated neighbors and undermined the outstanding work of the East Hempfield Township Police Department.

I am running for Township Supervisor because I believe East Hempfield deserves thoughtful, respectful leadership that prioritizes community well-being. I know we can do better, starting right here in our municipal building.
