Our Plan to Move East Hempfield Forward

  1. Empathy: Take steps to make all people feel welcome in EHT. Do what is best for the most people.

  2. Transparency: Post text of resolutions and policies online with the agenda at least 24 hours prior to meetings.

  3. Support Mountville library: Donate to Mountville library. Defend the library’s freedom to select books and programs that align with the library’s policies.

  4. Police: Ensure funding for the East Hempfield Township Police Department remains robust and the focus is on local public safety.

  5. Fire: Fund Hempfield and Rohrerstown volunteer fire departments so the department can focus on firefighting, not fundraising. Work with the chief fire official on innovative ways to recruit and retain volunteers for the department.

  6. Land use: Continue preserving farmland in the agriculture zone.

  7. Recreation: Complete the new park on Nolt Road by 2030 to provide a place for relaxation, exercise, and connection with nature.

  8. Stormwater management infrastructure: Continue to invest in infrastructure to mitigate flooding, utilizing grant funds when possible.

  9. Roads: Prioritize safety and a smooth experience for motorists and cyclists when evaluating road improvements.

  10. Zoning: Study zoning ordinance related to data centers and update as appropriate to protect residential areas, farmland, and the environment.

  11. Small business: Be open to feedback from small business owners about how to make the township a great place to operate a small business.
